Welcome to Winter - Ugly Jumpers! Part 1

It's the first day of winter today here in the Southern hemisphere and it was suitably chilly. So, in contrast to all the posts I'm reading from American bloggers, preparing all sorts of cute and exciting outfits and outings for summer, I thought I'd do something wintery, because, hey, who says winter can't be wonderful?
And on that note, it's time to introduce the first in what will be a series of posts about...

Ugly/Glorious Winter Jumpers!
Yup, that's right. I possess a fair few of these. There's something so charming about these cosy old winter warmers, whether they're chunky, worn to a thread, holiday themed, knitted by a relative (gosh I'd love a jumper knitted by Mrs Weasley), absurdly coloured or patterned, worn nostalgically or ironically, I love 'em all! They're probably more commonly known as 'ugly' jumpers, but I prefer to think of them as glorious. Depends on your taste I suppose.
The first in my collection is this beauty, that I generally refer to as my 'Ridiculous Red Polkadot Jumper'.

I picked this one up Bingo Betty on Malvern Rd, and the shop assistant assured me it looked cute, as opposed to ridiculous. I'm still fairly sure it looks ridiculous, but I'm hardly opposed to looking ridiculous now and again...or most of the time for that matter.
The colour also really appealed to me as it helped me escape the sea of Melbourne black that many Melbournians tend to sport in the colder months.

It's actually not overly warm or thick, and the air gets straight though the holes in the knit, but who needs insulation when you when you look like a Christmas decoration?
Do you have any ugly/glorious winter jumpers? I'd love to see!
